Custom School Fencing at Te Raekura Redcliffs School
Te Raekura Redcliffs School sits on Canterbury’s eastern coast, less than 100 metres from the ocean. The setting influences the architecture, including the distinctive red precast panels inspired by the nearby cliffs. Against this bold exterior, black SentryPanel Flat Top creates a striking contrast. The open profile gives staff clear visibility across outdoor areas. This helps create a secure school boundary while keeping spaces easy to oversee. The site has significant changes in level, which adds another consideration for the fencing. Custom gates bring character to the entrance. Selected balustrade areas feature DuraPanel Delta 950 in custom Matt Gull Grey.
DuraPanel Delta across changing levels
The varied ground levels at Te Raekura make the fence line an important part of the overall design. For similar sites, Boundaryline offers DuraPanel Delta rakeable panels for slopes up to 35°. The adjustable panels follow the angle of the ground while keeping the verticals upright. As a result, the fencing creates a smooth line along the slope. This gives installers a practical option when working across challenging ground. It also opens up more flexibility when planning school fencing around an existing site.
A custom detail at the main entrance
At the main entrance, custom SentryPanel gates give the school boundary its own character. A custom-designed wave runs across the top of the gates and incorporates the school’s name. The curve brings a softer detail against the strong lines of the building. It also creates an entrance that feels unique to Te Raekura. Here, the gate becomes much more than an access point. It adds another architectural detail to a very distinctive school.
Matt Gull Grey around the balustrades
The raised decks bring an important safety requirement into the project. In these areas, the DuraPanel Delta 950 panels sit more than 50mm above the deck surface. This takes the overall barrier height to more than 1 metre, allowing Delta 950 to meet the F4 requirement for this particular application. Selected balustrade sections feature Matt Gull Grey powder coating. The softer shade works particularly well beside the timber decking and surrounding materials. For other F4 applications, the required barrier height and loading depend on the location and intended use. Boundaryline provides Producer Statements for the relevant DuraPanel configurations.
A low maintenance and practical choice
Te Raekura’s coastal setting also makes material choice important. DuraPanel and SentryPanel are constructed of powder coated aluminium, which offers excellent resistance to corrosion. That makes it more suited to New Zealand conditions compared to steel alternatives. Aluminium also requires very little ongoing maintenance. For a busy school, that means less work to keep the fencing performing and looking good over time.
