SmartWall, our Modular CLT Timber Fencing with a Slat Top at Jollie Street, Christchurch

On Jollie Street in Christchurch, a medium-density housing development needed a fencing solution that was the right mix of durability, privacy, and design. The project team wanted something modern and long-lasting, while also fitting into the neighbourhood character. SmartWall and SmartWall Slat Top, our modular timber fencing with the option of a slat top detail was the perfect answer along with our DuraPanel Polo pedestrian access gates.

Why SmartWall was the right choice

Instead of a standard timber paling fence, which can warp and rot over time, this project wisely chose SmartWall Vertical and SmartWall Slat Top, our popular modular timber fencing system. The design combines the strength of our steel c-posts and rails with the natural beauty of timber palings, creating a boundary fence that is both durable and stylish. The palings are cross laminated MicroPro treated Radiata Pine which is safe, environmentally friendly, and kiln-dried to minimise movement, so the fence is built to last. Unlike usual timber paling fences, our SmartWall range is the better choice when it comes to timber fencing, designed to look great, last longer, and perform better with minimal upkeep, making this a well-considered decision with long-term benefits.

Adding light and interest with a slat top, and choosing access that complements the design

The slat top detail completes the fence and lifts the design. Black steel slats run along the top, introducing texture and allowing sunlight to filter through. This breaks up the solid timber look, adds architectural flare, and creates a sense of openness while still maintaining privacy. To complete the fencing, pedestrian gates from our DuraPanel Polo range were included. These give residents easy access while blending in seamlessly with the overall look of the boundary solution. Built from tough, welded aluminium with a durable powder-coated finish, DuraPanel Polo Gates offer strength and style, and the pedestrian options are fully adjustable onsite to meet your unique dimensions, making it easy to achieve the perfect fit for every project.
