Jack’s Point is one of Central Otago’s most striking lifestyle estates. Sitting beneath The Remarkables and overlooking Lake Wakatipu, the 1,200-hectare development is designed to blend with the land rather than dominate it. Because of this, even details like fencing need to contribute to the overall character while still delivering practical performance, and our Post&Rail fencing served to be the perfect solution.
Post&Rail fencing is usually associated with farms and lifestyle properties. At Jack’s Point, however, it was specified for residential lots, showing just how adaptable the system can be. The choice of macrocarpa timber added warmth and texture, tying the properties back to the rugged Central Otago landscape. At the same time, the design gave clear boundary definition without creating barriers between homes and views.
We have designed our Post&Rail fencing with a straight-through mortise so the rails slot directly into the posts. This removes the need for hardware, which not only keeps the profile clean but also makes installation faster and more reliable. Because the system adjusts easily to sloping ground and curves, contractors could achieve consistent results across varied sites. To finish the project, matching Post&Rail pedestrian gates were installed, creating practical access points while keeping the overall look cohesive.
For architects, planners, and developers, the benefits are clear. Post&Rail fencing combines natural durability with structural strength, all in a system that is complementary to both rural and residential environments. At Jack’s Point, it proved that a traditional rural fence can be reimagined for modern developments. The end result is a boundary solution that looks at home in the landscape, performs over the long term, and aligns beautifully with the vision for the estate.
