The Rapid Relief Team is a charity Boundaryline whole-heartedly supports and our Co-Managing Director, Hugh McGaveston, has the privilege of being the volunteer RRT Invercargill team leader.
On Sunday 3rd April RRT was called into action to support two emergency events as told by Hugh;
“On Sunday morning Fire & Emergency NZ called asking if we could feed 50 to 100 firemen and helicopter crew lunch, on site, at Tiwai Point where they were battling a large scrub fire. We headed to site and our volunteers have been providing hot breakfast, lunch and tea for the next three days.
The NZ Police and Land Search And Rescue also called us Monday morning to feed 40+ crew searching for two missing people at Lake Hauroko, so we had another team head there Monday night.
It’s been a privilege working amongst these amazing people who are going above and beyond with their time and efforts for the community and it’s just awesome seeing how far regular kiwis will go in order to help others in need.”
